Our History
Established in 1955 by Dr David Jones, Lismore Veterinary Clinic has proudly served the Northern Rivers for over 65 years. What began in David’s home on Uralba Street soon expanded into a purpose-built hospital at our current location.
Since then, we’ve continued to grow. Today, we’re a modern, fully equipped facility with four dedicated vets and a team of experienced nursing staff, all committed to delivering professional, compassionate care for both large and small animals.
Over the years, our clinic has seen many changes—including a major refurbishment in 1998 and a complete renovation following the 2017 flood. Yet through it all, one thing has remained constant: our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care to the Lismore community.
Community Involvement
At Lismore Veterinary Clinic, we’re proud to be an active part of the Lismore community, and we’re deeply committed to supporting local animal welfare initiatives.
Each year, we provide free veterinary care to hundreds of injured wildlife, working closely with WIRES and their incredible network of dedicated carers. If you come across a sick or injured wild animal, you’re welcome to bring it to us during normal opening hours—and we’ll make sure it receives the care it needs.
In addition, we support several local rescue groups by offering veterinary services at low cost to organisations such as Animal Rights and Rescue Group, Doggy/Moggy Rescue, RSPCA and the Lismore City Council Pound.
As a community-focused clinic, we believe in giving back to the people and animals who make the Northern Rivers such a special place to live and work.
